Pop Art Lab, Second Life’s ™ most dynamic and immersive music sim is inviting machinima makers from across the grid to participate in our latest real life project.

We have once again secured an opportunity to work with a much hyped, fresh and original Scandinavian band ‘Emma Acs & The Inbred Family’ to produce a music video filmed within SL for their new song release: ‘We Make Sense.’

The whole team at Pop Art Lab has been lucky enough to work with some of the finest machinima makers over the past three years and we all know the amazing, creative and highly professional film making that exists within SL and now, we want the rest of the world to know about it too!

 

Additional Information:

Danish band ‘Emma Acs & the Inbred Family’ is fronted by the 19 year old Emma and they released their debut album ‘Champagne’ in April this year.

With their distinctive brand of lo-fi, sixties tinged, psychedelic pop, they have won the hearts and praise of music critics from across the world.

On release, ‘Champagne’ gained highly rated reviews within the Danish press and they are anticipated to be the biggest act to emerge from the current wave of Denmark’s hot music scene this year.

The band have given full consent for Pop Art Lab to use their track ‘We Make Sense’ as part of this machinima contest and the track can be heard via their band page on Facebook or MySpace

 

Contest Guidelines:

  • The theme and story of your music video is entirely open with avatar likenesses to Emma Acs and the band both allowed and encouraged
  • At least 75% of the footage must be shot entirely within Second Life ™
  • Please ask all sim owners for consent prior to filming
  • The Pop Art Lab sim requires no prior consent as a filming location-make yourself at home!
  • We ask all entrants to act appropriately, to show respect to everyone involved to ensure fair play
  • If you require rezz rights at the Pop Art Lab sim, please create a notecard addressed to Claus Uriza and join our group. Joining boards are located at main teleport area.
  • Please remove all rezzed objects after filming. Scripts will be enabled for you too.

Submission:

  • Submit your video via you Tube
  • Send appropriate link to Claus Uriza via email
  • Include your name, film name and all contact information
  • Please add ‘Pop Art Lab Music Video Entry’ to your film title on You Tube
  • We will collect entries as favourites on our contest channel and embed finalist films on blogs as well (Films with highly inappropriate content will be excluded).

Prizes:

  • One winner chosen will receive L$50,000 and have their winning entry used as the RL video by the band

Judging:

Emma Acs & The Inbred Family will have the final decision in selecting the winning video. However several movie experts from both real life and Second Life will be part of the jury. Names will be posted during May.

Important Dates:

  • Submission deadline – 12 AM PDT/SLT (24:00 CET) June 12, 2011
  • Winner will be announced at a huge event ‐ June TBA, 2011

Format Guidelines:

  • Widescreen: Minimum 480p up to 1080p
  • Frame rate: Minimum 24 fps (frames per second)
  • Size: < 1 Gb

IMPORTANT: Titles and Credit

  • All titles or credits must be sent to clausuriza@gmail.com when you submit the video.
  • Please do NOT include title and credits before or during but make it appear at least 5 seconds AFTER in a complete cut to black/white.
  • Note: These rules are made to make it easier for media outlets who might want to play the winning video afterwards. Of course, you are welcome to put titles, credits etc. in text field on YouTube.

TERMS OF USE – WHO OWNS THE VIDEO AFTER I SUBMIT IT?

You retain all of your ownership rights to your film submission. However, by submitting you also grant us Emma Acs and Pop Art Lab a license to use, reproduce and distribute your film. When you upload the video to YouTube you’re granting us an exclusive license for the duration of the competition.

After the competition finishes it automatically reverts to a non-exclusive license for all videos except the winning video. We retain the exclusive license so the band can use it as their official music video if they want to do so.
