Machinima Documentary Music and Al Peretz in Pop Art Lab

Categories: NewsTags: , , , , Author: Claus Uriza

Al Peretz is setting up a series of machinimas interviewing various creators working in Second Life. I first met Al during our machinima contest preserving our previous sim design. He happened to win the contest with an amazing piece of work showcasing the powers of music combined with 3D graphs and a whole lotta love. Check it!

Then we recently met during my vacation far far away from prims and watching it now I missed some endings here and there but hopefully it’ll leave some space to think. The filming and documentary script is awesome. Big kudos and thank you Al!

PAL is back on track again after a very successfull simopening and ended machinima contest. To those who missed event and winner announcements the $L100.000 prize went to:

La Rumba Bacana II by Al Peretz

It was very close race and so hard to judge the winner! We will post comments from all the judges notes here asap. Some films could have been winners seen from a technical view others on best storyline etc. By now we’ll just say the very close race ended choosing Al Peretz film. It captured the old Pop Art Lab design very well, it shows a true passion for music and dancing of which PAL is all about.

One of the nicest parts of this contest was to see the diversity in music and cultures behind each entry. To me it really shows the powers of virtual worlds connecting people and culture from around the globe!

Within few days most of the 5 hours US event can be viewed as a Pop Vox Special in Treet.TVs archives.

More than 50+ creators of machinimas, music, designs, art, speeches etc. participated. We want to thank every single person involved we are forever grateful to each of you! Also greatest respect and thanks goes to Treet.TV for broadcasting, Linden Lab for bringing PAL up front in Destination Guide and Music Listing, Roskilde Universitys Virtual World Project for co-sponsoring the machinima prize. For a full list of particpants and credits by now please check out programme from The Pop Explosion!

Lastly a great picture taken by sim designer Emily Hifeng. We soon return with more from the greatest event ever to be hosted in Pop Art Lab!

Few people have been telling me Pop Art Lab makes the most thrilling events in any of the existing virtual worlds and The Pop Explosion was yet another example of what I would call high-end 3D entertainment! Hope those who attended agree!
