RE: MK Event -> Lessons to be learned

Categories: NewsTags: , , , , , , , , , Author: Claus Uriza

Pop Art Lab went into a classroom let’s say backend of room last night! Mankind Tracer arrived and I was left out approx. 30 mins due to tech issues. And here’s why…
We set 4 sims where 1 filled stage/crew/vip and 3 left for audience.
We trusted people and I am sure they trust us! But like an amusement park well… :) lets keep it straight EVERYONE wanted to be front of stage. Ofcouse we should have closed this area for public access… peace outs! Limits ain’t Pop Art Labs middlename! Sum up sim 1 was lost in 100+ ppl. tryin to enter a 40 limit zone!

We tried inform clearly through the week of the guidelines but planning in VWs and especially communication can be tough!

So what!
We did it.. we had 150+ through the mill.. Mankind Tracer did an awesome gig spanning 2½ hours! That’s the record for me till now… TX MK!!!
Greatest evar respect goes to:
Emily Hifeng (designs, tech, host)
Lapiscean Liberty (tech, mentor)
Xray Haller (designs)
Mozy Pera (host, mentor)
Olivia Saphir (host)
Persia Bravin (press)

Categories: NewsTags: , , , , , , , , , , , , Author: Claus Uriza

Friday the 13th 2 PM SLT
Mankind Tracer aka Set Regan will come visit Pop Art Lab. For this giant event we have set up big concert dome at bay area few hundred meters from PAL in the center of 4 sims. We expect more than 200 avis coming. For those who don’t know Mankind heres info:
Winning the 2008 Best of SL Award for Best Live Performer in SL and voted Best SL Live Performer 2008 from Vain. Inc. Reader’s Choice Awards, Mankind Tracer has been labeled “Second Life’s Premiere Rock Performer” for good reason. His ability to perform characature vocal impressions of the artists he covers is unprecendented here in SL. Besides covering the best rock hits from the 70′s forward, he always includes a handful of his incredible original music in every performance to a packed audience. The vibe at his shows is uplifting and he truly cares about the people he performs to, often offering his insight on current events and both RL and SL issues. The floor is always open for residents to speak as well and Mankind makes himself readily available to all his friends and fans across the globe.
We will post inworld special invites to PAL members during week.
Don’t miss… this show will be part of the increasing SL and PAL history of high quality performances.

RE: Greg Hawkes Info

Second Life, December 12, 2008 — Greg Hawkes performed his first ever live concert within an entirely virtual environment. The event attracted international attention from Australia to Denmark.

“If it sounds like a sci-fi movie, well…it is…but one in which the plot is self-determined, as if the audience of a theatre could participate first hand in the events on screen. And so it was that Greg Hawkes, virtually speaking that is, teleported into this brave new world and onto the stage of Pop Art Lab last Friday, to an excited and virtual crowd of cheering avatars.” – Gaius Luminos, Galaxy Productions

“The most amazing thing was that almost everything happened on the fly with 10 human beings 10 different places in the world. Even Greg Hawkes’ avatar was handled from Copenhagen. It was so real. It’s the balance between real and surreal that will kick the web into new horizons in the future.” – Claus Uriza, owner Pop Art Lab

The show was an international collaboration. Greg Hawkes performed live at Cybersounds Studio in Boston, Mass. alongside producer and owner Perry Geyer. The Austrailian 3D TV station SLCN handled filming, and all voice was delivered through both Skype VOIP and Second Life Voice.

The concert was preceded by a 30 min. interview wherein Greg discussed his career spanning from the late 60s until now. Access was limited to 40 avatars for the televised production. The 60 minute set was comprised of Cars classics, songs from his up and coming alternative band ‘Fierce Tibetan Gods,’ and Beatles songs from his new cd “The Beatles Uke” .

“Second Life is an ideal platform for music performances to take place with online participants attending from all corners of the globe. The Pop Art Lab series bringing real world musical acts into the virtual world is extremely exciting and SLCN are pleased to be involved in the broadcast of these events.” – Starr Sonic, Executive Producer of SLCN.TV

“This is one of the first of many similar real world musical acts entering Second Life. The show was intimate, refreshingly real, and fantastic!” – Claus Uriza

How it worked:
Show run by Pop Art Lab, a company providing exposure for new cds and promoting real-life artists within Second Life
Coordinated through Gaius Luminos (SL), Galaxy Productions an artists management company in Second Life
Televised by SLCN.tv, Second Life’s largest TV company bringing the news from the grid
Made possible through Perry Geyer, Cybersound Studios NYC and Boston
SL tech./supp.: Persia Bravin co-host (SL), JenzZa Misfit animations (SL) Metanomics, Mankind Tracer soundtech. (SL)
Opening acts for Greg Hawkes: Starflower Orbit (SL), Jambo Losangeles (SL)
Architechture 3D designs/moderation: Xray Haller, Emily Hifeng (Pop Art Lab)

Greg Hawkes’ new cd, “The Beatles Uke” (Solid Air Records) was released November 18th and is also available on iTunes.

Greg Hawkes blew everyone away last night with the best concert I’ve seen in SL so far! During his set the following crossed my mind.
Pop Art Lab made a show where I was in Copenhagen interviewing Greg Hawkes from Cybersound Studio in Boston. We handled 4 on Skype voice, 3 on SL Voice and dozens of inworld IMs and open chatlines. Wow thats communication 2008! At Gregs side Perry Geyer the highly resepected producer running Cybersound was on Skype ensuring all the tech stuff and audio was streamed perfect. On cell was SL musician Mankind Tracer aka Seth Regan giving tech. support. On Skype too SLCN.TVs executive producer Starr Sonic and her highly professional staff mostly live from Austrailia. In Pop Art Lab Persia Bravin helped me running interview from Wales, Emily Hifeng (PAL Officer) moderated the audience inworld while having her tea in France. Gregs alt. avatar doing the performance/animation Claus Furischer was located in Copenhagen Denmark. JenzZa Misfit, Metanomics controlled our sit animations. My Pop Art Lab staff was in New Jersey US, Austrailia and Los Angeles. The Cybersound Studio inworld manager Gauis Luminos was in Colerado US. My very best friend was in Buenos Aires, Argentina. To sum up it was truely amazing to connect all you sweet people from around the world and create what to me was the most amazing event I’ve experienced in virtual worlds so far! Huge applause to the entire crew especially Gregs manager Gauis Luminos from Galaxy Productions and Greg. Nice and interesting to see how a production can be made by 15 ppl. sitting 15 diffrent places real life and be able to get all running. Wow I love it!

Welcome to the Pop Art Lab blog – June 2009

Pop Art Lab is a media center located in 3D world Second Life. Its main purpose is to explore how to present and promote new music in 3D enviroments.
Visitors recieve a daily/weekly overview of the very best albums released on the market streamed full length in 5 domes.

Pop Art Lab was born January the 1st 2008. The architecture was a collaboration of long time SL friends setting up the venue and arranged into details in accordence to supply the concept. During 2008 I experienced the importance of stability and management.

September the 5th Pop Art Lab had its official opening. Linden Lab included PAL on the frontpage of their Showcase section 3 hours before we opened!

November the 4th Pop Art Lab was featured in SLCNs weekly RealBiz TV programme. Few days later the planning of PALs next project was set. To increase the concept with TV shows promoting high quality music as well as interviews … moving towards the 3D web.

December the 12th Pop Art Labs first TV production was launched featuring Greg Hawkes of 70-80s supergroup The Cars doing a 30 min. interview followed by an 1 hour live set.

Pop Art Lab partnered with SLCN.TV now Treet.TV and gave birth of further music TV productions under the Pop Vox moniker.

During first Q 2009 the upcoming Real Life star Max Morgan, the Danish underground icon Baby “Lorenzo” Woodrose and voted as best SL musician by Linden Labs residents award choice Mankind Tracer were featured in Pop Vox.

Since September 2008 Pop Art Lab have had more than 20.000 visitors based on local stats counter. The return of visitors is constant at 25-35% showing incredible satisfaction and among the highest rates in Second Life! The PAL group is up at 475 unique members with a slow rise.

Given the fact Pop Art Lab runs next to “normal” office hours on limited budget and time we have a good thing going!

Welcome!
June 2009,
Claus Uriza
